An Autumn chill starts to touch the evening air and what better time to think towards interior light for the coming months. Nights are falling earlier and an elegant pleated lampshade maybe be just what you need to brighten up dusky evening. That wonderful moment before real darkness falls. After meeting them while filming Monty Dons Real Crafts the lovely team at Copper and Silk and I have got together a created a fabulous array of prototype Lampshades. My particular favourites are made from delicately, gathered pleats and made by hand in North London. Working closely with Copper and Silk I have designed a series of bespoke and new fabrics especially for these lampshades paying close attention to scale and colour. The result is dynamic but hopefully adaptable to many interior spaces. It takes my signature Ikat technique of scanning hand dyed and woven artworks and creating digitally printed fabric designs. Aubergine and milky lime blending gently together. Apple green slides into hot pink and strong teal, hovering between light and dark tones, moves across a gently Ikat graded surface. The drum shades are more architectural and graphic, showing the colour changes more clearly. Perfect for living rooms and restaurant spaces bringing a quick bold flash of colour appropriate for even the most neutral scheme. I really hope you like these… they were a pleasure to make and it’s great to offer something completely English made: designed in Sussex, printed in Lancaster and pleated and constructed in North London.
