DREAMING IKAT – SNEAK PREVIEW

This is a momentous post.

I am extremely excited to reveal some of the pictures from our first shoot for my new range of PTOLEMY MANN bed linen…

The wonderful photographer Katya de Grunwald, stylist Amanda Koster and I spent 2 intense days in Hackney a few weeks ago. Helped along by lovely assistants Victoria and Juliette we created the world of DREAMING IKAT.

This has been a project 2 years in the making; a foray into the sphere of commercial textile design yet it’s been important to me to keep the handmade and serious craftsmanship at its heart. Translating a series of hand dyed and woven Ikat based designs into commercially produced Jacquard weaves and screen printed fabrics has been a real challenge. Bridging the delicate gap between art, design and commercial success is complex. Keeping the essence of a concept and hand-made principal strong yet creating a brand that feels exciting and accessible to a wider audience. The product range will also include a large collection of rugs, some cushions and mohair throws.

Coming to a store near you in September 2013 here is a sneak preview of the pictures.

Do let me know if you think that gap has been bridged or if you know of an Interiors boutique/shop that might like to stock the collection…
