The Glory of Opulent Colour

There are certain visual sensations that make me go weak at the knees….

Looking at the work of photographer Javier Vallhonrat does exactly that. In the current April 2013 issue of VOGUE he treats us to a totally mouth-watering series of images of the model Guinevere Van Seenus, styled by Lucinda Chambers. What I love most about these images is how they transcend any kind of trend or ‘fashion’ idea and stand alone as complex, beautiful colour studies. A true artist; more akin to a painter than a photographer (in my opinion) he manages to capture a depth and translucence of colour that I rarely see. Intense and gentle, soft and saturated; lavender, burnt orange, dove grey, ice blue, peony pink, acid yellow, flashes of emerald spring green.

Hip Hip Horray for the Glory of Opulent Colour!!
