I wanted to share some lovely pictures I just received taken to promote a show I am in in September at the London gallery called Contemporary Applied Arts. The show is curated by the lovely duo Brian Kennedy and Peter Ting and is called Domestic Matters. In their own words:
The basic tenets of Modernism emphasized function and utility; abstract beauty, and sculptural form; honesty in materials and honesty in design; the use of modern materials and technology as well as an emphasis on the use of natural materials, beliefs and ideals that sit comfortably with contemporary craft. DOMESTIC MATTERS explores this common ground and will create the imagined home of a collector of mid century modern furniture and contemporary craft over the gallery and board room spaces at CAA.
The work for this exhibition will be drawn from members of CAA as well as some key historic pieces from ROCKET GALLERY. Established in 1994 by Jonathan Stephenson, ROCKET GALLERY has forged an international reputation for its particular vision of minimalist painting, sculpture, photography, and functional design.
They did this lovely photo-shoot with the photographer Jan Baldwin to visualize the project. it also features my previous collaborator Lubna Chowdhary. More nearer the time…
